SMH Jewelry Designs was launched after four years of jewelry creation simply for the joy of creating and for the therapeutic value - necessary when keeping up with three fast-growing boys and a husband! I have lived in Wilmington for over 25 years and left a career in corporate finance to stay home with the kids, except I never stay home...
I use Argentium Sterling Silver in most of my designs because of its tarnish-resistant properties. Argentium contains the same silver content as traditional Sterling Silver but some copper, which is what oxidizes, has been replaced with a metal called Germanium making it tarnish-resistant. It is very easy to care for.
I start with raw wire, wind it around different size mandrels to create coils, cut the coils into rings, then tumble the rings to harden the wire and polish the silver before weaving the rings into a necklace, bracelet or earrings. Yes, tools are a wonderful thing! I use Sterling Silver beads and clasps plus Swarovski crystals and crystal pearls, freshwater pearls and semi-precious gemstones in my creations.
Custom Orders
I am happy to lengthen or shorten anything, change the clasp or earring type, change the color of Swarovski crystal or even make something you dream up - that's where the fun is! Just contact me. New ideas come from somebody seeing something they like but they want it just a bit or a even lot different! Custom orders take about 1-2 weeks to ship - I will email you a time estimate. Because custom orders are made just for you, they are not returnable unless there is an issue with workmanship.
